One whole year.

Can you believe I have lived in Texas a year? Me, I'm still processing the fact that I was placed into a state of quarantine back in March, so it's a bit difficult to process that it is now July. But a WHOLE year. Am I a Texan now? I know, probably not. And probably never if I continue to say "bag" the way any Minnesotan says it.

I wasn't sure where I'd be a year from when I moved. Considering I wasn't sure where I would work, or whether I'd like my roommates enough to live with them another year, or how I'd handle the heat. Of course, I can say I NEVER envisioned my "One Year in Texas Anniversary" being spent at home due to a global pandemic. But hey - why should life be predictable?!

Some of my top moments pre-quarantine? All the visitors for sure (love all of you) and the music and new restaurants. Also, ACL -- for sure was a top moment.

Top moments in quarantine? Wine and my couch?! Look, quarantine has had it's ups and downs. It was definitely disappointing having to make the decision to not go back to Minnesota in July as COVID numbers were spiking in Texas. Also disappointing -- not stepping foot in the gym since March. However, there have been "ups" like not commuting (I truly hate driving and then you add on that I have apparently a "short temper" when it comes to road rage... and I think it becomes clear my health is better without commuting), saving some money, and throwing yoga back into the regular routine of my life. BUT the biggest "up" to this up and down metaphor is my roommates. No one wants to live with someone who is trying to figure out their health issues amidst a global pandemic and thus directed as an "at-risk" person to be hyper diligent and careful. But all and all I appreciate the lengths my roommates have gone to keep themselves and me safe during all of this!

What am I looking forward to in year two? I'm going to just say what everyone hopes happens in the next year - a vaccine for COVID. But in more short term. I am looking forward to getting a paddle board and taking it to the river and lake! I look forward to mini-cabin trips we plan to do this summer/fall while we are in quarantine.

Advice: Here is my COVID-19 tip -- Wear your damn mask. It just ain't about you, keep others healthy, do your part.
